Lagoon, Where the Fun Is!

Sending off summer is always sad...but we sure did it with a bang this year. Lagoon..I don't even ride the rides and I still have fun. We had kids coming out our ears on this adventure but it made it even more fun. Our family, Sean's family, my parents and Mike's kids all gathered for a day at Lagoon. That was 11 kids in all. A look at them climbing the fences shows the kind of control we had over them that day. :) Not much.

Not long after we arrived the kids were getting pretty hot.  Rattlesnake rapids is the answer.  5 or 6 times on this ride and we were all cool and happy.  Most of the kids got soaked...I tried to stay as dry as possible.

Later in the day, after we dried off and gotten tired again, ice cream was the answer.  Yummy!

Just watching this ride made me want to lose my lunch...these kids have guts of steel.

Ben and Max were good buddies through all of this.  They went on lots of rides together and Ben enjoyed being a big brother to Max. 

What could be the down side to Lagoon. I mean, we had a SUPER FUN TIME. At about 9:30, exhausted kids in hand, we headed to the car to go home. Nate asked me for the keys. Keys? "I gave them to you" I said. "Remember...I said, I don't want to take the chance of being the one to lose these." Nate dug through his pockets...and dug some more. We searched the diaper bag and stroller. The keys were no where to be found. In hind sight, I should have kept the keys. I mean, I went on kiddie rides and Rattle Snake Rapids. Nate went on Wicked, Colossus, and any other wild and crazy ride they could all find. Well, Nate had already lost his cell phone...which we realized early on in the day. I don't know why we didn't realize the keys were gone. Nate walked back into the park to check the lost and found. Well, by this time, Emily was on her last leg. She puked in the parking lot. We waited twenty minutes praying Nate would return with the keys. He came back empty handed. The blessing of the story was we were not alone. Sean had walked out of the park with us. Sean owns a nice, large SUV. So, three adults and seven children, two coolers and a wagon piled into Sean's vehicle for the ride home. Sarah cried most of the way...she was so tired. However, we made it home just before 11pm. All so happy and grateful to see our beds. Even with an end like that...Lagoon was still one of the funnest days of our summer. It was so much fun to spend time with lots of cousins. We are so glad they came.

Last week we enjoyed a few days of the lake with my family. Thanks to my parents and their boat and my sister and their wave runners, we had a blast. :) Lots of time was spent in the water with me trying to prevent sun burns somewhere in the middle. Rachel tried to get up on the wake board and was successful at getting out of the water. She is still working on the other stuff.

She will keep trying and get it by next summer.  :)

Nathan looks like a pro and was even up for getting a little tricky. Are you wondering why I am not out on the wake board? Yea, right.

The kids had a lot of fun just playing in the water when we weren't out on the boat. I did swim out and join in on some of that.

Emily and I had fun swimming together.  I don't get much attention at home, but Emily seemed to enjoy being with me out in the lake. 

We had a nice collection of interesting floating toys.  At one point Ben floated out the the buoy in a small baby pool.  Thank goodness for life jackets. 

One night we had a rather large gathering in my parents motor home to watch the Olympics.  It was a really awesome night of swimming, gymnastics, and gold medals.

Sarah as the Sand Baby.  Sarah didn't really do much else besides get dirty in every way possible.  Luckily, I had a hotel room each night for Sarah and I to get a good night of rest and take a nice bath.  :)

 

One evening a big group of sail boats came out on the lake around sunset.  It was something to see. 

Can't be out on the boat without some goodies. 

And don't forget to jump in the lake.

Ben wished he hadn't.  It was sooooo cold.  :)

The entire adventure was wrapped up at the Dairy Keen in Heber.  MMM...so good.  

Tomorrow I start work again. I have a full week of conferences (Special Education Law Conference...boring) and Professional Development at the office. I don't know where the summer has gone. Oh well, we still have Lagoon, the Zoo, and a visit from our Washington cousins to enjoy before everything is really over.
